Vans laces: our tips for wearing them well

Vans are among the trendiest sneakers of recent years. Ideal shoe for both men and women, it is THE sneakers to choose if you like the streetwear look. It adapts to all occasions (or almost).

Laces are inseparable from Vans. Available in a wide range of colors and styles, laces bring a touch of originality to your Vans. In this article, our tips for lacing your Vans properly and giving them style.

The different types of laces for Vans

Depending on your taste and style, there are several styles and colors of Vans shoelaces to choose from.

Plain laces

The solid color lace is one of the great classics. It goes well with all varieties of Vans. In general, the color of an original Vans shoelace is matched with that of Vans. For example, black Vans are available with several solid colors of laces (orange, red, blue…).

Total black laces

Invincible for several decades, the Vans total black lace gives style to your shoes. It's been around since the beginning of Vans, but hasn't aged a bit. Moreover, the total black is among the favorite models of Vans lovers.

Total white laces

The total white is also a great success. It is also the original color of the Vans. All Vans colors are available with white laces. They give a sleek style to your shoes.

Checkerboard laces

The checkerboard lace features an original design. White and black, red and black, blue and black, red and white or blue and white… The choice is unlimited.

Why and when should you change your Vans laces?

No matter what shoes you wear, laces are essential to provide support and comfort to your feet. More concretely, the laces make the shoes more comfortable even if you wear them all day. When the laces no longer fulfill their function, it will therefore be necessary to buy new ones.

Laces get dirty and wear out over time even with a lot of maintenance. Whenever your Vans laces fray or lose their shine, consider replacing them. New laces guarantee the comfort of your feet.

The different varieties of colors

We already mentioned solid colors and black and white a little earlier. However, Vans laces are not only available in these colors. You can also opt for multicolored, gray or red laces.

The Vans exist in a Rainbow version. If you love more pronounced colors, you can choose a multicolored lace for your Vans Rainbow. It is also possible to match your black Vans with red or gray laces.

The golden rule is to match the color of your laces with that of your shoes. With blue Vans for example, avoid choosing red or multicolored laces at the risk of creating a clown look.

Our tips for lacing Vans sneakers

Admittedly, most people leave the lacing like Vans out of the box. Only there are so many ways to lace up your Vans to give them a touch of originality. Here are a few:

Vans authentic

Insert the lace at the bottom two holes, leaving an equal length on the left and right laces. Then pass the left lace through the top of the next hole to the right. Do the same on the other side by inserting the right lace into the hole at the top left. Continue like this until you reach the top of the shoe.

Vans Era

This time, the idea is to insert the shoelace through the top of the hole. To do this, start by inserting the two ends of the lace down, through the two bottom holes. Then pass the left lace through the top of the hole on the right. Repeat the same process with the right lace.

Vans old school

To lace old school Vans in a more original way, insert the right lace upwards at the third eyelet on the left. The idea is to skip the second eyelet to leave an empty hole on the left. Then insert the right lace of the Vans shoelace down through the empty eyelet on the left. Repeat the same gesture with the left lace to obtain three bars until you reach the top.

Do the same with the left lace to create three bars. Cross each lace on the opposite side to make new bars until you reach the top of the shoe.

Of course, these are only examples among many others.
